What is California Labor Code Section 132(a)?
California Labor Code Section 132(a) is a law that protects workers from discrimination and retaliation in the workplace. Under this law, it is illegal for an employer to discriminate against an employee who has filed a workers' compensation claim or who has testified in a workers' compensation case. An employer also can't discriminate for age, gender or any other reasons described within the CA Labor Code Section 132(a).
If you have been discriminated at work because you have filed a workers' compensation claim or testified in a workers' compensation case, you may be entitled to compensation for lost wages, emotional distress, and other damages.
