According to a recent article in KQED, California state regulators have fined Amazon $5.9 million for violating labor laws intended to protect warehouse workers and reduce the risk of on-the-job injuries.
Point-blank. The company’s injury record is abysmal. An investigation conducted by California's Labor Commissioner Lilia Garcia-Brower and her agency led them into two Company facilities in Southern California. Moreno Valley Amazon warehouse was fined $4.7million, while Redlands was fined an additional $1.2 million because of violating worker safety rules.
They did not give thousands of employees written descriptions of production quotas and much more. These investigations, which spanned from October 2023 to March 2024, uncovered many safety infractions that affected nearly 3,000 employees.
The firm forgets their operators are not robots, are humans! Their goal to become the fastest delivery company in America comes with a high price when the operator gets hurt.
Research has shown that employees at Amazon, the largest operator of warehouses and logistics facilities nationwide, face more hazardous conditions compared to other companies in the industry.
